For this shoot we kept the lighting setup simple.  I try to shoot natural light most times, but on this day we were dealing with mid-day sun.  So i decided to go with the Pocketwizard Mini TT1 on camera and the Pocketwizard Flex5 to trigger my Canon 580EX Flash.  One of the amazing things about this setup is that the new Pocketwizards now allow you to achieve sync speeds all the way to 1/8000th of a second.  This is great for bright sunny days, and I still get to shoot anywhere between F1.2 and F2.8  for some amazing bokeh.

Much love to Rachelle for being a real trooper.  Sitting on jagged rocks and in pain while still making it look sexy is not easy.

Flash triggered with MiniTT1/Flex5.
Canon 5D w/ EF85mm F/1.2L USM
F-Stop: f/1.2 // Shutter: 1/8000sec // Focal Length: 85mm

For this shot I wanted to capture the motion of the water instead of freezing it.  I slowed the shutter to 1/5sec and put on a Neutral Density filter to significantly lower the amount of light in the lens.

F-Stop: f/2.8 // Shutter: 1/5sec // Focal Length: 16mm

After the waves crashed into her, she wasn’t too happy, but here is the resulting shot.
